It's Official!

It is official! WE ARE FOSTER PARENTS as Febuary 18, 2010! We are so very excited and we are anxiously awaiting the phone call to tell us about our future child/children. We are very nervous, scared, ecstatic, and every other emotion right now. We hope that our wait is not long but we will just have to wait and see. There is a chance that we may be getting a little girl age 5 and her brother age 3, we are praying that those little ones go to the right home, weather it be us or another family.

On a side note, I am very sick and cant wait to feel better so I can finish getting the house ready! The kids' room is done, but we are considering getting bunk beds since we only have one bed in the room right now. There is a set on clearance at Wal Mart and anyone that knows us we love clearance!

Why?

A Child Knows...

You can look in their eyes, and see by the pain,
They've sailed some rough seas, and suffered in vain;
Their spirits are broken, their faith totally shattered,
And given up hope, their little lives mattered!

They've been on the front-lines, like soldiers of war,
Fought endless battles, with no chance to score;
There were no medals of honor, pinned on their chests,
And no way to escape, life's toughest of tests!

They've carried their burdens, without speaking to others,
For the 'weight', is their own, fathers and mothers;
They've hungered far more, than there ever was cause,
Yet accepted their fate, with little more than a pause!

So remember, when one of these 'soldiers', are given to you,
They'll fight against everything that you try to do;
But be persistent, don't quit, just stick to your plan,
For the child in the "soldier", will seek your gentle hand!

Slowly their minds, and their spirits will mend,
When they are secure, that you're their friend;
And that is the greatest gift, you could ever bestow.
For when you give from the heart, all children know!

This might be the best/only way to explain why we decided to become foster parents.

Update as of 2/16/2010

Well I dont have much exciting news! I do want to thank everyone that has joined with us, prayed for us, and thought about us during this journey. We can not wait for everyone to meet our child/ren. We feel so blessed its hard to explain. Why did God choose us to be parents to someone that so desperately needs love. Why were we chosen, we don't deserve the honor. We can't wait to be mom and dad and love on the kid/s that will we soon be sharing our life with every waking moment.

I spoke with our case manager today and she said she is sending our notebook to ICQ to get "proofread" and put into a legal document and then our case worker (hoping for Ebby) will call us tomorrow (Wednesday) and we will be officially "open". We could be placed anytime after tomorrow. This has been a very hectic, fast, and furious 3 months and I still don't like the thought of waiting. I feel sorry for the women who have to wait 9 months! hehe

Amazing Song!

We are going to be parents..

Yes, you read right! We are going to be foster parents. It has been a long journey and we have finally announced it to the world (via facebook, lol). After 2 years of trying to conceive naturally and with oral infertility drugs, we have decided to take a different route. Which lead us to foster/adoption care. We have been debating and praying for over a year about which agency to go with, and God kept putting Hope for Tomorrow in our way, so we called them in December and we will be licensed on February 15th. Its so overwhelming to us that we have been waiting to be parents for so long and we might have children, yes childREN in our home in less than 2 weeks!

Now for the details! We have had our homestudy, inspections, and many hours of training completed over the last 2 month and its finally here. We will be licensed in less than two weeks and its a bit overwhelming but we are very excited!

We have made our selection criteria for children that are 0-12 years old, any race, and either sex. We have the room finished, it is decorated red and blue (I will post pics soon) and has everything a 0-5 year old would need, if we get an older child we will have to change some things up. We do not know when the exact date will be that we get a child, but we are anticipating at the most 2 weeks after we receive our licenses.
